Review Shazam 2 : Fury of the Gods

This is direct sequel to the first film Shazam! in 2019. The film continues the DCEU universe. Still being directed by David D. Sandberg with starring Zachary Levi (Shazam), Asher Angel (Shazam/Billy Batson), Jack Dylan Grazer (Freddy Freeman), Adam Brody (Super Hero Freddy), Faithe Herman (Darla), Meagan Good (Super Hero Darla), Grace Caroline Currey (Mary Bromfield), Michelle Borth (Super Hero Mary), Ian Chen (Eugene Choi), Ross Butler (Super Hero Eugene), Jovan Armand (Pedro Peña), D.J. Cotrona (Super Hero pedro), Djimon Hounsou (Wizard) and on the Villain side there are Lucy Liu (Calypso), Helen Mirren (Hespera), Rachel Zegler (Anthea). Warner Bros as the distributor of film with an estimated budget of $100,000,000. This film has runtime within 2 hours 10 minutes (130 minutes).

Let's get straight to the point. This film has more solidity than the previous, all characters get their respective portions. Although the duration was only 2 minutes different from the previous. The characterizations in this film are wider and also have a lot of weight. So the plot of the story is very enjoyable, light and entertaining. Even so from the Villain side, The Daughters of Atlas has good character development. Some of the jokes that are owned could created laughter and some also feel unnecessity.

The problem that I highlighted in this film was the dialogue of characters. There are no real problems, it's just that the dialogue speed of the characters in this film feels very fast, especially Zachary Levi as Shazam. I remember a scene at their lair, Shazam issued a very fast and non-stop dialogue in a few seconds and it was so fast that we had to digest what the meaning of the dialogue was. I had time to thought about it, is this an obstacle to the writing of the subtitles which disappear too quickly or is there other matter. For other problems, maybe about the CGI. I found that there were several scenes where the CGI results were good and some also that felt "muddy". I don't know, with a production budget of 100 million dollars, whether the CGI shown is understandable or not.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods is a highly enjoyable and light-hearted superhero film that excels in delivering laughs and fun-filled entertainment. With its clever humor, charismatic performances, and family-friendly approach, it is a movie that appeals to a wide range of audiences. However, pacing issues, and a predictable plot prevent it from reaching the heights of the best superhero films. Nonetheless, it remains a worthy addition to the Shazam franchise and provides an overall enjoyable cinematic experienced
