Review - Aquaman The Last Kingdom

Aquaman living his peace life with family. While under the ground Black Manta seek his revenge on for his father's death. Wielding the Black Trident's power, he becomes a formidable foe. To defend the Atlantis Kingdom, Aquaman forges an alliance with his imprisoned brother Orm. They must protect the kingdom at all costs.

The second installment and would be the last film Aquaman, still directed by James Wan. Features with  main character  Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry/Aquaman and the antagonist Black Manta (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II). Patrick Wilson, Amber Heard, Randall Park, Dolph Lundgren, Temuera Morrison, Martin Short, and Nicole Kidman also star in supporting roles. Warner bros taken responsibility as distributor with $205,000,000 (estimated) budget. The film has runtime 124 minutes merged with one post credit scene at the end of the film.

The film's has rich mythology and history of Atlantis, also with dynamic relationship between Arthur and Orm in brotherhood. The film also delivers great action scenes, such as a chase through a sunken city, a battle with a giant sea monster, and a climactic showdown with Black Manta and his army of mercenaries. Visually stunning with the film represents underwater kingdoms in a mesmerizing manner, offering the audience a visual feast and well-executed. I wasn't expecting much with the movie turned out to be actually...... a quite good. The bond between Arthur and Orm was a plus, Black Manta delivers a threat
who is not bad at all, to getting a revenge for the death of his father in the first movie. Using the black trident to help his revenge plan against Aquaman; though he was cool to watch with the comic accurate outfit, he needed to do more when it came to him fighting Aquaman because he is mostly possesses by the black trident because of the trident's past, but he does have a few cool moments.

My only problem with this movie its lack of emotional depth and dialogues often adhere to be the standard superhero tropes, hindering a more profound exploration of relationships between characters. The runtime could have been a little longer with additional more background how Orm's through his imprisoned, how Arthur spend his daily activities as he declared as King of Atlantis. Overall, Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom is a highly entertaining and visually stunning film that will appeal the farewell to DC Extended Universe. Whether audiences embrace this approach remains to be seen in this new politically correct era where judgment stems as much from extended universe perception as singular works.
